...Joe is an amazing cellist (who also features on other artists' work, such as Flogging Molly's new album, Speed of Darkness), and a super nice guy to boot. Really proud to see him doing so well for himself...its not often you see working musicians around you actually make it! Go Joe!

Joe isn't an 'official' Avett Bros member, though he plays every show and has been on every album since they added him, about 5ish years ago maybe? So a lot of their press photos and interviews and such only feature the original three (even though Bob is of course not an actual Avett, but is a founding member). On most of the albums, Joe is listed as a 'feature'. I think this is mostly because Joe doesn't do much if any of the writing (though I would imagine he contributes...not totally sure)
