  • I've fired this. Caliber is .303 British. Had to be careful loading the mag becase the shell casing had a rim. Rims had to be stacked in the mag with the rims in front of the one below or they would jam.Pain in the ass really. Don't know how the British and Canadians made through the war with this thing.

  • @Mishomisguitar With careful loading of the magazines, the rim over stoppage is fairly rare. With blanks it is more common, as the blank round is shorter than a live one. When firing blanks they can sometimes jump and cause a stoppage.

  • Plus the Bren has a changeable barrel and that's a big thing I like the bar but it chews ammo up too quick and the mag is not as big and heavy duty as the brens mag

  • Bren is bets bar any day if u are in a running battle or cover battle like this the Bren needs less reloading because of it's larger more heavy duty mag

  • Alot better than the BAR, Bren is a good machine gun

  • @Mishomisguitar Its better than your BAR any day.

  • @Mishomisguitar They had the same problem with the .303 round in the Lee Enfield rifle. The rounds came in clips of 5 and the rims had to be positioned "3 up 2 down" in the clip. They knew about the problem when they adopted the rifle about 1900 but they had several million rounds in their stocks and did not want to waste taxpayers money by dumping them.

  • still remember the name for the smallest part on the bren, barrell locking nut retainer plunger, and thats from 1954-56.

  • not quite how i remember firing the bren, the no 2 had his left hand passed under the weapon where the no 1 put the empty mag he had removed and the no 2 replaced the fresh loaded mag with his right hand, so you had a very fast continuous rate of fire.i will stand corrected if i,m wrong for it was many years ago for me.

  • It's me bren gun

  • The L4A4 Bren used 7.62 Nato 'rimless' rounds (postwar) - in many respects a far better gun than the US equivalent, the BAR, .303 ammo notwithstanding.

  • where did you pick this up i cant find any blank firing brens? and how much did it set you back
