Mad City Paddlers canoe and kayak on Lake Columbia near Portage, Wis., on New Years Day 2011 - the power plant's cooling lake is about 85 degrees and stays open throughout the winter, allowing paddle enthusiasts to paddle the lake on Jan. 1 each year.
