F/A-18 Hornet high-speed flyby. At around 4 seconds, notice the small vapor cone that develops around the aircraft. This phenomenon indicates that the plane was flying at or very close to the speed of sound. Also, at that 4 second mark, there is a distinct, but muffled boom sound. Could that sound be a sonic boom (or maybe it was just from some wind)? If the plane did, in fact, fly supersonic momentarily, one possible reason for the low volume boom sound could be because the plane hadn't yet passed me, so the sound heard in the video could just be an echo off the mountains. I haven't heard any confirmed reports of a sonic boom, so you'll have to make the call. All I know is that sonic booms I've heard in the past have been much louder.
