A terrific performance, without doubt. She delivers, in my view, her definitive rendition of this aria at her Paris debut on June 21, 1966 at the Salle Pleyel (also on this channel).

Caballe revels in molding the long Bellini phrases: she has an exceptional sense of line. Her phrasing combined with the sheer beauty of her voice and florid technique make hers the model for other sopranos to emulate. Callas shows great dramatic intensity in this aria, as in all her singing, but vocally I feel Caballe is superior here. Thanks for posting!
