Video of my captain Borodor maintanking the watcher in the Vile Maw raid. While it's not very exciting to watch it might help you if you are planning to tank him yourself. I also wanted to show that captains are awesome tanks on a single target.
In addition to keeping aggro for the whole fight im constantly healing the group with rallying cry and giving the champion a 21 second to arms buff (+25% dmg) every minute.

Check out www.filefront.com/user/SpyxNL for my other LOTRO videos. Enjoy!

  • So do people actually name their characters like they should be named. Are there are no (or at least little) immapriest or xxpallyxx or rolfxlol and stuff like that, at least on RP servers. ´Cuase in WoW it´s impossible to role-play in-game, so all the roleplaying takes place on forums, which kinda kills the whole point of roleplaying. Also, is Captain supposed to extensivly heal, I don´t mind being backup healer, but I don´t want to just heal and nothing else?

  • @Dendarang

Naming policy is enforced on RP servers. While not all names are strictly fitting to the lore, things like immapriest, leetwizard etc will be changed when reported.

Captains are support healers. While you can mainheal instances you are not expected to. You can't mainheal raids so you'll always be there to support the main healers. Other tasks include buffing and dpsing.

  • Yea whats the name of the song?

  • @darklink594 dude i know what you mean, the 3 characters ive made so far in lotro have only been men because its what theyre the best class at... so annoying

  • i hate how captains are only for men im really sick of the men quests

  • @Agassi2096 Yea its much easies and Leader of Men is my personal favorite trait line too :D

  • @Shadow4Fire Hope by far for groups and most soloing content. Then once you get the Victory banner at level 34, you will end up using that for most stuff.

After level 35, you can get the "Intricately Woven Standard of War" and use it for soloing easy content (it increases damage by 10% I think, combine that with telling mark, it can be anywhere from 15-20% more damage, which is awesome.

  • @W1zerdG1ml1 True, but it's still healing is it not? Yeah healing helps him get aggro but it also... heals the group. So it actually means a lot more than you think.

And now tanking is so much easier with captains. Especially if you trait 5 deep in Leader of Men (which IMO is the most fun trait line for caps), just hit noble mark in the beginning, threatening shout, cutting attack and grave wound, and try to get as much rallying cries and shadows lament down as possible, and you are good to go.

  • Saying healing with rallying cry AND tanking doesnt mean anything...rallying cry HELPED you tank because of the healing aggro.

  • i was wandering which herald is better hope or war? and why?

  • Not only can you tank effectively, but you can do it while your hotkeys are a mess! You, sir, are a hero.
