  • Thanks your job.

  • Well yes, I wasn't suggesting that the poachers turn to eco-terrorism. I was speaking from the point of government. Its better for them to keep poaching illegal, do eco-terrorism, then to start your idea about harvesting chimps. Have you been to Africa? Selling chimp meat a top dollar won't sell. Trust me, if it was a good idea, somebody would have done it by now

  • The locals just don't buy your answer, so it is doomed to fail. Africans can make more $ selling dead chimps than live chimps. Bottom line. And that's the problem. The people that own these apes do not see them the same as non-occidentals. Of course, my idea would mean a boost in chimp meat prices, too. But, the meat would be legally harvested, while leaving free-roaming chimps in protected areas. Or, maybe not so protected. Again, only if Africans accept 'protected.'

  • Actually that idea is stupid and unfeasible. Cows, pigs, chickens, and what not are very cost effective to sell because they grow to full size in a year or less. Its a lot of meat for your buck. A chimpanzee grows at the same rate as a human. That means after a year, thats only about 12 pounds of meat or so. You're gonna spend a lot more money raising them and feeding them. Its more profitable to keep them alive and do eco-tourism.

  • Sources tell that chimp meat is a delicacy to some Africans and thus, eaten for special occassions only. Tasty too! Sort of like our turkey at Christmas. So, why doesn't an enterprising African start a chimp farm to produce well-fed, healthy chimps for the dinner table? Done. End of problem? Does anyone have a better idea? I'll wait for the answer. This should be good.

  • Thanks for the information .. will check out your website.

  • great information, thanks,
