She is so beautiful. I love her name, and your video was funny and cute.
Where did you get her? How expensive was she? I'd like one eventually, although I have two kittens already, a Siamese mix and a melanstic DSH.

@rayemoon99 I have a blog - my username dot com - that discusses how I got her. She's from Arietta Cattery in NJ. Excellent, excellent breeder producing I think 8 of the top 10 Maus in TICA in 2010 - including Wintermuse's mom. :) They're pricey cats due to their rarity, but I think of them as an investment over 20 years. Without giving exact numbers, let's say she cost about as much as a plane ticket to Europe - and has given me more happiness than any trip I've ever taken.

Do Maus chew or scratch things a lot? Can they be trained not to chew on certain things like wires? I want to get a Mau but I have a lot of electronics so there are some cords.

@PenguinHeadNoah I had exactly this concern before I got a Mau and a cat in general. My Mau has an oral fixation - she LOVES to chew on grass, on toys, and on cardboard -- but she has never chewed on a wire or anything not 'sanctioned' by us. She loves danglies, but only if they move. Static black wires are of no interest to her when we have provided her so many moving/crinkling/chewy/sparkling toys. This is not a concern for most Maus.

Are Mau's good pets for first time cat owners ? I've had a few dogs but always wanted to own a cat and Mau's are my favourite breed and I've heard they are extremely loyal to their owners.

@scotgirl101 They are very dog-like in terms of loyalty, learning habits, tricks, fetch, etc. If you love dogs, you'll find a lot to love in Maus.. however, remember that they are cats. They are willful. They are complex creatures that will care deeply about your well-being even while they tell you very firmly that they need to play. Unlike a dog, they will not be ignored &, like all cats, go to various means to get what they want. That's the part that gives me pause for a first-time cat owner.
