One of the viewers suggests that the BBC News opening titles at 0:33 actually started in September 1981, not in 1984.

@catholicwood I think what it is this bbc logo was from 1997 but they are using the studio for the bbc six 0 clock news first introduced in 1993 so I think that seems correct but the one at 2:24 2:25 is the bbc six 0 clock news studio first introduced in about 1993 I think BBC recorded that video in 1998 so I guess it will be and possible is from Summer 1998 that is a guess but more than likely summer 1998 seems correct as I remember watching this at the time thanks for this amazing great video

One thing most of these themes have in common is a load of discordant thumping and slamming. The current one also makes you feel giddy with all those radiating circles and graphics which take an age to settle down.

Compare with Germanys ARD TV News theme which is extremely short and to the point, both the start and finish.
