There are two names, for two different artifacts.

@thearchiveable But it looks like everything is made of jelly, that's how it got that name

This is not jelly effect, this is rolling shutter effect.

DSLR cameras at this price look better than camcorders at the same price.
-
@KEBokeh Lol, I couldn't agree more.
-
This happens on most DSLRs. It's because the sensor records the image from top to bottom. It can be corrected fairly easily in post.
-
@100shutters I've seen pans that fast in many, many movies.

@KEBokeh Video DSLRs are far, far better than camcorders for professional videomakers. They are becoming regularly used in the professional industry. For instance, the last series of House and of 24 were both shot on a Canon 5D. It's really not just a gimmick.

It's officially called 'tearing' and normally occurs as hard dashes through the screen which cut up the images in fast scenes like panning. It's most common, and indeed you need to buy a real camera for these kind of clips. But with a DSLR you can 'cheaply' get that amazing DOF effect in recordings without hassle.

Thats why God gave man the ability to buy a nice camcorder.
WHO PANS THAT FAST SERIOUSLY, UNLESS YOUR FILMING A BLAIR WITCH PROJECT!, its ment to be used for filming movies and you never pan that fast in a movie.

trust me guys, you don't need fast pans, after a while you'll detect this effect even in the smallest movement, it gets really annoying
