@thesithempire Hey sorry for picking a fight with you back then.. damn I looked on your site and thought I haven't change my mind how could I argue with "anyone here" who wrote what you did about Phil Ochs' beauty, talent and the need for a live DVD from Phil.

@hangeygirl : Beautifully said. Dylan wrote a few prescient anti-war songs, but nowhere near the body of Phil's protest songs, nor with his intense sincerity.
Phil was every bit the songwriter Dylan was, and a far better singer, and yet half of his albums are out of print, and there's not even a single DVD of him playing live. That's just ridiculous!

surely the point is to stand up, speak up and feel up. we're born with a heart beat and to sing it out. phil ochs defined music for a committed generation which keeps coming. sure, it's not everyone and sure, the war machine is madness; but any song sung with heart, verve and sheer bravado shines. done in the tradition. thanks

The shame/crime is that the majority of people today have never heard Phil Ochs. But they know who friggin' Bob Dylan is.....Bulls*it. Dylan has always sang about nothing. Stood for nothing; compared to Phil anyway. Today's music scene doesn't deserve Phil. He's too good for us. Hey we still got madonna and britney u know......

Jen Cass' song is beautiful and one of my favourite tribute songs for Phil. You can tell she really feels his still-strong spirit. If only he could have known that his songs would live on and continue to guide future generations on their way.

I loved Phil Ochs, too. You guys should listen to Jen Cass' song "Standing In Your Memory". It's on her myspace and it's awesome!

My mum was just telling me last night that many people feel this way. If he'd known just how many people wanted to reach out to him, maybe he'd still be alive today.
Something about Phil Ochs that makes you want to hug him - and I'm a guy lol!!!

I think it was Phil was so genuine in caring about justice for the people of the world. He knew how to use a song to expose lies in the media and by the politicians and huge corporations so that they could exploit patriotism for resource wars that only they
benefit from. That's whay he said, "I ain't marching anymore!"
