This is probably the first song that I completely taught myself, and let me tell you, I have made many changes to it. It is also the first song that I added slides to , which are a lot of fun now that I don't struggle whenever I do one. I wanted to make this sound more rugged American that the sweet song that it could be played as.
open the closet door, put your elbow against it and play. you will hear an immediate improvement.

'Dead mans' tuning, which this song is traditionaly played in is actually (low to high)DDAD, not DDGD.

u need to work on ur rhythm a lot!, and as a basic rule of fiddle, NEVER slide more than half a step. But aa a tip, retune ur violin to DDGD (obviously low D on the G or u'd break ur string lol) but that will add a lot of character to the tune and make it a LOT easier to play
