This is probably the first song that I completely taught myself, and let me tell you, I have made many changes to it. It is also the first song that I added slides to , which are a lot of fun now that I don't struggle whenever I do one. I wanted to make this sound more rugged American that the sweet song that it could be played as.

  • open the closet door, put your elbow against it and play. you will hear an immediate improvement.

  • yes u are correct it was a mistype...thank u for the correction as im sure playing it in DDGD would not sound too pretty

  • 'Dead mans' tuning, which this song is traditionaly played in is actually (low to high)DDAD, not DDGD.

  • uploaded a version of me playin it so u can see what u can do in DDGD tuning...im a bit rusty but im sure u can use it to better urself

  • u need to work on ur rhythm a lot!, and as a basic rule of fiddle, NEVER slide more than half a step. But aa a tip, retune ur violin to DDGD (obviously low D on the G or u'd break ur string lol) but that will add a lot of character to the tune and make it a LOT easier to play

  • I forgot the fiddle could give that ye olde America sound, I have a new respect for it now. :P
