The city (besides downtown) is dead. The suburbs are still thriving that is where the capitalism is. Detroit was built on capitalism and destroyed by socialism. Look at Grand Rapids, it is also thriving. It is also the "red" part of the state.

im from boston and went to visit fam in detroit over christmas break, and i was just fascinated by how hood the city really is lol i keep looking up youtube videos of the city! something about the ghetto is just really interesting and unique...almost beautiful. like a diamond in the rough.
but then again what do i know im just a girl from the suburbs of boston..

Blame this, blame that. Let's stop putting the blame on whoever, because what is done is already done. Instead, let's pull together and make things better. Once you start playing the blame game, that is when things get more out of order. Let's educate, dedicate, volunteer, commandeer( for the good), rise up and put our ideas and concerns to make any dead city once again a thriving city.

@ranus42 I have done plenty of research and Detroit was being ruined by the negro people long before Reagan was around. BTW I didn't vote for him or any other GOP president, so don't even bother going down that pathway. The negro people are a failed race - that is fact.

$2.29 a gallon for gas.. Damn I wish that was back. Detroit has gas for about $3.60/gal now..
