There has been much excitement over the announcements of results of the Gene Therapy trials conducted by Dr Robin Ali (fast becoming a hero in my world!). The trial is for a treatment for LCA, Leber's Congenital Amaurosis, a rare form of a Retinal Disease / Retinitis Pigmentosa and has produced some amazing results. This video shows the before and after results of Steven navigating a darkened room with obstacles in his way. The improvement is amazing and shows there is hope for the future. We must all remember however that this is a rare form of RP that is not yet a third of the way through the 3 year trial. It won't treat or cure all of us RP sufferers BUT it is a very positive first step forward. See the full story at www.brps.org.uk
