Two short promos made at the ABC to launch their online video-on-demand Natural History channel, ABC Wild. That's why it uses footage from the natural history archives. After I had made them, they changed the concept to a general documentary channel to be called ABC Real, then after I replaced the logo it became ABC Docs so I had to composite it again. The "wildlife camera" is based on the Arri SRII, with the addition of kangaroo ears, a crocodile tail, and emu legs. The camera model is mostly MDF, the tail is foam latex, and the legs are liquid latex over wire.
I shot it at the ABC using my Canon 40d with a Nikon lens, and Stopmotion Pro on my PC. I did the post-production on a Mac G5 with TV Paint and Lightwave 3d.
The movement of the character was particularly good in this one. Very natural (...no pun intended.)
