For some reason this a/c reminds me of the old F-8 crusaders, I guess it is that huge nozzle coming out of her back end. Which reminds me that the F-8 was the last single engine USN fighter before the JSF. Is this thing so reliable that navy brass decided to give up on the long held tradition of twin engine fighters? Or was it rammed down their throats, almost like a bad kharma version of the F4?
@TheSilentOne50 Yes. the original YF-22 was developed as an "new air superiority fighter to replace the F-15 Eagle". and "The JSF program was designed to replace the United States military F-16, A-10, F/A-18 (excluding newer E/F "Super Hornet" variants) and AV-8B tactical fighter aircraft. To keep development, production, and operating costs down, a common design was planned in three variants that share 80 percent of their parts" but development of the F-35 did bring an end to F22 production.
what the fuck was the point of even making this thing? Why not just keep the F-22, which is literally the exact SAME aircraft with two engines? Why did they even cancel it?
However... this plane is really aesthetically pleasing. However, this thing has NO combat experience and is NOT PROVEN.
Nothing less would be exeptable to protect this gread nation! I'll take 3000 of them !
I can't wait to see the kill-to-lose on this thing. The Eagles have what 100+-to-0 after 30 years. No one even got a lucky gold bullet kill !!! An Israeli F-15 flew home with a wing missing from a S.A.M hit( A WING MISSING !). We're going to need a lot of targets! If the Raptor drivers let them have a kill now and then that is. Hope our guys did it again. Thanks for the vid.
@Gl3nnman yea, i think so, because the F-35 isn't supposed to have a HUD. and the cockpit looks tight which is also a characteristic of the F-16. so i think you're right.
@jko3139
I think the second, this plane will downgrade every airforce that will use it,a shame.

@StivenCabrera3 Really? I thought that the F-22 got cancelled for high prices. Didn't get that memo.

@TheSilentOne50 The F-35 Lighting II is replacing the F-16, while the F-22 is replacing the F-15E Strike Eagle. So F-22s will still be used.
