Crappy video, I'm well aware. Just trying to get some rolling footage, and I was the only person in the car. More (better) footage to come!

  • Heh, lots of jealously floating around here.

    1) Read the fucking title. It was just to show the speedo/gauge setup, and I was filming myself.

    2) I have other WOT videos you dolts.

    3) Weight distribution was (sold the car) 52/48. The LS1 is all-aluminum, and the Miata's 4-cyl was cast iron. I added only about 200 pounds to the entire car, and most of that was transmission (T56) and rear end (8.8 Ford,) both of which are substantially larger than the OEM pieces.

  • I love comments like this. I'm the only person in the car, shifting and steering with one hand while holding the camera with the other.

But, what do I know. You must be a race car driver.

  • The digital speedo is fine. The camera is picking up what our eyes can't see; it's called multiplexing. Each of the display segments is pulsed on, then off so quickly your eye can't pick it up. Look up persistance of vision.

  • people shit talking the swap are retarded. The LS1 swap ends up causing the car to weigh barely more than it would with a turbo kit and it does not adversely affect the handling of the car. Flyin Miata has proven this quite thoroughly. The fact that these FM V8 swap kits can actually make the car driveable with a GM Performance LS3 crate motor (About 430-500hp depending upon the cam) should tell you something!

  • what tranny is in these things? T6?

  • *A guy and his buddy pull up to this at a light in a Civic* "Hey man check this out im about to smoke this little Miata haha" *Light turns green* *Miata leaves Civic in its LS1 wake* *Guy in the civic: 0.o Holy S**T.

    The Ultimate Sleeper.

  • hey guys guess what all u bailin peeps in here its fuel injected no carb this is like one of teh cheapest mod to get if u dont know about cars

  • @T34418L31 I know it is an old comment but: how is the mileage on this? I mean I have heard stories about Firebirds getting close to 30 mpg with LS1's and 6 speeds. I would think a miata would get evven ebter since it is lighter.

I am looking to buy a miata and this is a distant pipe dream for me to have something like this.

    great sound :)

  • @T34418L31 I think someone measured their LS3(?) as being only 75 lbs more than the stock engine. 475lbs for the entire engine w/ t56 tranny. Not bad if you ask me. Still i think the miata is better suited with a good light rotary. Im waiting for the RX9, 1.8L aluminum rotary, rated at over 400HP naturally aspirated.

  • @PriestsandParamedics that would be amazing... i'd record it lol

  • Who sells his Monster Miata? I WANT ONE!!!!

  • People knocking this build are beyond clueless. Drive one. Your minds will be forever changed.

  • Take your Miata to a Mazda dealer and be like "My check engine light is on!" And see the look on their faces when they open the hood haha.

  • @ whoever questions the suspension: its not a drop in swap like an sr20 in a 240sx. your doubling the cubes and cramming it in the same engine bay. The suspension is all custom made high gauge steel, that comes out to weighing less that some of the stock components. As T34418L31 said, the LS3 is all aluminum, most of the weight came in the rear end. I know there are kits that locate the engine back a little more and will give a 51/49 weight dis. I want an ls3 in my miata so bad...but expensive
