The Coalition for Girls: Because I am a Girl

The world is currently denying millions of girls their right to reach their full potential.

Discrimination against girls is grounded in a series of traditions and norms, based on the assumption that biological differences between males and females justify that girls are denied access to rights, opportunity and voice.

Plan has launched a fund to support projects that fight gender inequality, and to champion girl's rights. We simply must address gender discrimination as a priority if we want to tackle the root causes of poverty.

I was in Africa recently and can not emphasise enough how true all these statements are.
