After lots of misunderstandings and underhand dealings, Sally's sweetheart returns after being injured in the Great War. This song came to be Gracie's signature tune, as she said "I've been singing a man's song all my life!" They got round this by making the song the one that her man most liked to hear her sing. The film was made in 1931 and still contains elements of the cross-over from the silent era. Notice Florence Desmond's gestures, she's the girl that brings them both together at the end.
oh god in his heaven what a pure voice.
