John Mayer - Neon (w/ Tutorial!)

I know this isn't the cleanest rendition of the tune bu ti wanted to put up a tutorial for people to learn from, even though I'm not the greatest guitar player... I hope this helps!

There are lots of live versions and a few different studio versions that john mayer has done out there, so instead of duplicating one, I just learned the gyst of it, and play it my own way, so if this isn't exactly like the version you know by heart... thats why. if you want to learn it watch to the end!

no. its a cover. john plays it slower but this guy likes it faster. each person has unique musical tastes. dont criticize someone on how they envision a song being played just cuz john played it slow.

he said right in his descrip that he didnt just copy john. john already plays it that way. why do it again?

play it a diferent way and maybe you'll come up with something fresh. a song is a piece of art not a static statue of a thing. its dynamic.

I know that its been more than 2 yrs since posting that vid and probably youre a way better guitarist than this video shows but for people who are learning this wonderful instrument- practice with a metronome, otherwise youll be speeding up and slowing down, just like in this video shows. Dont get me wrong its not that bad here, but hes triipping over his fingers at times. Singing is very interesting though.

Dude I know this was posted 2 years ago but I just learned this song and I am interested in the bridge part you are doing. After 2 years can you still play this song. I have been practicing it for 2 months and I just feel like I have the into part. I' m 47 and learning guitar, go figure. Any advice you can give would be appreciated. thanks
