wow kim carnes is not good with her movements on stage but has a great voice.

They changed it in the fall of 84 when Rick Dees became host. His radio show The Weekly Top 40 used R&R and he didn't want fans writing to him asking why his radio show had a different Top 10 then Solid Gold. Before Dees was host, their credits said Radio and Records.

No need to get so pissy about it - I admit I read your comment wrong and I apologize! I just checked out the ending of a 1985 episode of "Solid Gold", and here's what they posted in regards to their chart information...
The ranking of hit songs contained in this program was compiled by the producers after reviewing standard industry sources.
Therefore, they probably combined Billboard, Radio & Records, Cashbox, and what ever the hell else was out there that recorded chart data at that time.
-
I never said they used Billboard charts!!!!!!! I said you can not compare the two charts. Plus Solid Gold did not use R&R even thought they claimed to. Physical DID NOT hit #1 on R&R's pop chart, yet it did on Solid Gold. Physical was a #2 hit on the R&R Top 50.

@jph0917 "Solid Gold" used Radio & Records' charts - not Billboards.

Enough with the Madam Buzzkill Puppet. Off with her head! Andy Gibb seemed indifferent, but through that 1000 watt smile, you know Marilyn was thinking "OK bitch, you're in my shot, and you were on my last nerve before you even opened your mouth." hehe

You can't compare Billboard to Solid Gold. Billboard's 1981 survey year went from November 1, 1980 to November 1, 1981. Solid Gold went from December 15, 1980 to December 15, 1981.

@jph0917 They did slow stuff. Enough Air Supply to fill my tires.
-
LOL "A Smurf with a hormone problem" CLASSIC!:D

Juice was always on Solid Gold. Angel of the Morning was a huge pop single that year.
I actually wrote down all of the top 40 songs and still have that sheet from that countdown show (almost 27 years old)!
I'll list them all later.

Why'd you cut off the closing dance? That's one of the best parts.

Because that is how I received the episode. Whoever recorded it, cut off several endings of several episodes, much to my chagrin. Because I think it's one of the best parts too!

Hi. I actually saw this countdown back in 1981 when I was 12 yrs old. I remember the top 3 songs were:
#3: Kiss On My List (Hall & Oates)
#2: Physical (Olivia Newton John)
#1: Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes) I was a big Hall & Oates fan, so I remember Private Eyes being at #7, and You Make My Dreams was #39.
