Standing in Confederation Square, Ottawa, the Memorial serves as the federal war memorial for Canada. In May 2000, the remains of an unidentified Canadian Soldier who died in World War I were taken from France and buried in a tomb in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has been created to honor the more than 116,000 Canadians who have sacrificed their lives in the cause of peace and freedom. Located at Confederation Square, corner of Elgin and Wellington streets. There is no price for Admission and is open 24 hours a day.
