On April 14th, 2011 Horse Plus Humane Society had 21 horses, ponies and mules surrendered. Lassen County Animal Control assisted with the surrender of these animals. Most of the horses and mules had never been halter trained, so they had to be loaded hands free. No horses were hurt in the loading process, only humans. The Animal Control officer had her hand broken when she was kicked by one of the stallions.

The horses and mules were brought immediately to our veterinarian for evaluation. Please join us in our rescue efforts: http://horsehumane.org

  • I appreciated people nourishing animals back to health and maybe trying to train them. But why do people always turn to whips. The horses obviously where not afraid until you started hitting them with the whip. Wouldn't it make more sense to try and lead a couple in the trailer or bribe them in with some grain so the next time they see a trailer they don't think they are going to be punished? Just my opinion.

  • @HorseCrazy38 None of the horses were halter trained. We used the whips as an extension of our arms as a visual barrier, they were not used to hit the horses in punishment.
