Here is a short video to show what type of decorations we put up around our front door for New Years in Japan. They are meant to bring good luck or to invite the "God of the Year" (Toshikamisama) to visit your house. We pack up our Christmas decorations on December 30th, do our annual cleaning, and then put up our New Years decorations in preparation for the new year.
