Sunrise came early for the Space Coast of Florida on Tuesday morning, March 11, when the space shuttle Endeavour lifted off with a seven-person crew on a 16-day mission to the International Space Station.

The footage begins at approximately two minutes before launch and continues through SRB separation. Showing the launch real-time, NASA did not show tracking footage from long-range cameras on the ground. Light was lost after the SRBs separated.

  • @plusplusplusplusp, that's a good question. Of course, back in the old days, they just made up a background or put the crew somewhere near their launch vehicle to take the portrait.

  • Why don't they do those nice crew portraits the used to, without the tacky comped-in background?
