Sarah McLachlan's outstanding "Mirrorball" concert DVD includes this wonderful version of Sarah's profound and compelling song, "Witness."

Lyrics:

Make me a witness
take me out
out of darkness
out of doubt

I won't weigh you down
with good intentions
won't make fire out of clay
or other inventions

will we burn in heaven
like we do down here
will the change come
while we're waiting

everyone is waiting

and when we're done
soul searching
and we carry the weight
and die for a cause
is misery
made beautiful
right before our eyes
will mercy be revealed
or blind us where we stand

will we burn in heaven
like we do down here
will the change come while we're waiting
everyone is waiting

  • @dendennable Very well said!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sean Ashby on guitar...damn that boy can play!!

  • ...genius

  • I just adore the great Sarah mclachlan... she is such a great lyricist. she is a pure example of an original musician. nothing at all like beiber or anyone in this day and age shitty musical era... she is just such a great good hearted person. and, I don't care if Ioffend any tone by saying this... I could care less.

  • will the change come while we r waitning?

  • Sarah is amazing.

  • @BallerinaStar22 She has a way of humbling herself and bringing us with her... and she does it in such a way we don't even realize we've been taken somewhere until we're there.

Her song "Black" is another great example. She sings of contempt for greed and materialism... but she does so fearlessly from a first-person perspective. The song starts out pianissimo and continues poco a poco as one continuous crescendo, infusing her own sense of guilt as energy to take the song to the next level.

  • feel that! really. everyone IS waiting.
