This is an old unit, that's for sure. I have a friend who had one similar that had a Ford six-cylinder motor. I have a similar chipper. Probably about 8-10 years newer and with a Chrysler 318 V8. No panic bars on mine either. Gotta stand to the side as you feed it. It has a 525 pound flywheel and you're not gonna stop that with your arms and/or head. You'd be pink mist before you knew what hit you. So yeah -- be careful. No gloves with gauntlets and no long sleeves if you can avoid 'em.
