  • does it get tiring kicking the wheel for like 10 minutes straight?

  • You know getting back into that clay sounds amazing. Im still in High School here in Southern California and I haven't been able to touch clay since early June, when the school year ended. I've been watching your videos for close to three months waiting till my School Year starts back up again so I can get back to the wheel. Ive got so many new ideas from your videos. This year I'm going to be the Teacher's assistant so I hope to have as much free time to throw as I can!

    Keep making your Videos

  • Thank you so much for your advice DCuzik, will check out your vid. Much appreciated, Cabby

  • I know everyone has a different way of doing this, but keeping your elbow in on your rt. arm (counter clock rotation), sort of attached to your body, may help. As you said the position changes as you go along and are adding less force. I have a recent vid on a tall cylinder, the information there may help. Really you have to find your own way, so keep trying different things.

  • This is the Leach Wheel, it was designed in the early part of the 1900's, by Bernard Leach and friends. Simon's draft plans for this wheel design are availlable. He has spoken at length about the wheel and even has vidoes of people making one for him. Hilary

  • great videos! im glad i stumbled upon you. anyway i was wondering where you got your kick wheel. ive been looking and looking and ended up deciding to do build my own because none looked comfortable enough.

    but yours looks perfect!

  • Amazing! Simon could you do a quick clip about arm/elbow posture - I always struggle with large pots as I move my arms away from the initial lifts from the wheel sink. I know some potters dig their arms into their hips/sides/etc but could you show us how you do it? Or does anyone else have other tips? Thank you!

  • Great to see you back! You actually seem like a different person :)

Our weather here is changing and I'm fired up to get back on my wheel :) !!! It's like getting on a bike after a long rest...at first it will be wobbly, but I'm sure I didn't forget how to ride :) !!!
