  • I remember the car from the ford show, never miss it AWESOME. I will look for it

again in 2010. We always bring our white 1970 T-bird. Thanks for posting the Cobra.

  • Sorry, I disagree. drive it like it was meant to be driven (smacking the redline in every gear) and when it blows, REBUILD!

  • This engine is still known as the fastest from Detroit. It's one of the best racing engines ever created producing 657 HP straight from the factory.

  • Well you'd be wrong as King Richard finished second to David Pearson, but both did drive Fords. Ford was the alltime winner in NASCAR for over 50 years up until 2004. Constant rule changes favoring chevie finally lost them the alltime wins record.

  • If you look back Ford was holding it's own most of the time in NASCAR with the 427 as it was. Seems to me even King Richard was driving a Ford to the 1969 championship..not a Dodge or Plymouth.

  • Actually chrysler had DOHC versions of the 426 and rumor has it that if Ford would have been allowed to run there cammer, chrysler would run there own of course there were very very few prototypes made but they were ready,as a mopar guy I definatley respect Ford much much more than I do G.M

  • And ofcourse, you don't destroy an original car, that would be a biiit stupid, if about to change an original car, then it have to be special, very good reason, like make it like a tribute race-car or something like that, but ''rice'' it up with neon and stuff, that's just something i can't accept, if doing that, but if about to make a really good race-tribute car, depending on what car it is, is something i can accept, if they make it properly, like adding NOS stuff and not aftermarket chinacrap

  • Actually, it was Chrysler that got the 427 SOHC banned.

  • Yes, i'am aware of it, and i find it very sadly that things happend as it did, like it was banned, think if it wasen't banned, but were allowed to compete in NASCAR, it might have been possible that it would be able to take the title as ''The Greatest American V8'', but unfortunatly, it never happend, thank you NASCAR for forbidding it, stupid rules and stupid decitions stopped this engine, to bad.

If i ever were about to be the person who decided that, i would never forbidd it as they did.

  • Once again, you could do that on a replica, but not an original. Keep in mind this engine is a performance monster as is; it was designed for NASCAR but sadly never made it. THIS was the engine that could have stolen the 426 Hemi's thunder!
