Your K-customs are a far better set of hats than the Paiste colorsounds that I am looking for. Since Paiste no longer makes the colorsound series (except for black Slip Knot sigs), the only place to get them is on e-bay where they run about four times what they are worth, or occassionaly in a music store's used gear section.

I play a lot of metal and DBM, (slow, but bombastic and loud), so my current hats are 14" Rudes. Not a lot of depth, but loud. Though I play metal, I love Jazz!

Ah right. well i find cymbals from the US on ebay are much cheaper than those in british drum shops. i got all of mine from ebay.

Hmm i'm not fond of metal drumming if i'm honest. i'm naturally a quiet drummer because i like to concentrate on cheeky ghost notes, rolls and little effects to enhance the music. metal drumming is the opposite: play loud and hard. although of course there are some very good metal drummers!

Hmm 300 US dollars is less than what i paid for the hi hats in this video. Zildjian K Custom 13" Dark hats. Got em for around £230!

Same here! I have the green one, as it contrasts with my yamaha kit which is an older late 80's stage customs in wine red.

One of these days, I want to try to find a set of Paiste Colorsound 2001 hi hats in red, but at the moment, they are going for around 300 USD, which I will not pay for a beat up set of hats...

As I always say, when it comes to things like music, everyone has their preference. I love to listen to the Jazz cats play at the university that I teach and am doing my grad work at. I learned to play hard music as a kid (many years ago), listened to early sabbath, MC3 and machine head, and now, play DBM and epic stuff.

Any way, I am taking lessons from this cat that is the head of the Jazz dept at my school, and love it! He is actually teaching me to read charts!
