Her articulation of each run and of each melody, her control of tone and her artistic sensitivity to each musical gesture is what really makes her such a master. I think her interpretations stand next to Horowitz as some of the greatest of the 20th century.
Gouldfan tedly 10027 attributes divine traits to his icon, which is very well understandable. Unfortunately he denies such traits to Argerich (and others) who is a supranatural phenomenon at itself. But you have to recognize it, if not, you will fall irrevocably in a deep caveat, from which you will barely be able to escape...
@tedly10027 i'd like to add : one of the most STUNNINGLY polished and EFFORTLESS renditions of CHOPIN's etude 2 opus 10 is BY glenn gould, on video that puts to shame PLENTY of "famous chopin players". one must admit. imagine had GOULD BOTHERED to put his pianism to the bulk of Chopin. when I heard martha's version - i was surprised at how almost awkward her version sounded against gould's.
@denizoliveiraerdinc i used to play this as a favorite from among beethoven's earlier sonatas - it is one of his best structured and most poetic, i think. anyway -- the most beautiful i have heard played of this was by Glenn Gould. can't find it on youtube - but if you do - check it out. technically at LEAST as good, but more than that - is the greater depth of conception..the close of the rondo , imo, creates a "fairytale" like quality that martha can not match, imo.
Martha, transmites una increible pasion en tus interpretaciones. Sos increible!
