We volunteered because it was the right thing to do. We fought for each other. And Dr. David Westphall built Angel Fire Memorial.

I had never heard this before but was led to this by a letter in the Daily Mail 18 January 2012 which told how Joseph Mackenzie, grieving after the death of his wife, wrote this song after looking at a picture of his great grandfather, Sgt MacKenzie: "I looked at his picture to ask what gave him the strength to go on. It was then, in my mind, that I saw him lying on the field and wondered what his final thoughts were. The words and music just appeared in my head."
