A quick look at some ways to apply the hybrid picking technique (introduced here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL5-p_fts0Y ) to lead playing, by focusing on some lines involving the minor pentatonic scale.

We look at both 2 note-per-string and 3-note-per-string ideas for a variety of fusion lines in the style of Brett Garsed, Shawn Lane, Eric Johnson, Tom Quayle, Greg Howe & Richie Kotzen.

Thanks for watching!

  • Ghost notes are notes that are so quiet you can't tell whether they were really played. What you're describing is called "false-fingerings". It happens when trumpet players or sax players play a different fingering for the same note. You're right that we can do it on guitar by stretching to play fourths along a single string. Great lesson!

  • Keep doing what you're doing. I love your lessons
