Dissatisfied with Brian Wilson's arrangement of Cotton Fields, Al Jardine later led the group to record a more folk-rock style version. The remake was recorded on August 15, 1969 with Orville "Red" Rhodes on steel pedal guitar. Released as the renamed "Cottonfields", this remake, while not a hit in the U.S., was a top ten song around the world in the Spring of 1970. Because of its popularity, it was placed on the foreign release of the group's Sunflower album.

  • @lneranger4 Yeah it is a great song despite the uneducated writer's inaccuracy. Boy Al can surely sing. John Fogerty's version is the best I have ever heard. But this is also a gem. Once I had to sort out which state's law applied where the plaintiff lived in Texas, was physically present at a clinic in Texarkana, Arkansas (across the street from Texas), but the physician was located at a related medical facility in Shreveport, Louisiana.
