    It's not a rip off if it is worth the price. Which these are.

    Also, consider the other brands' top models are also $800 (eg. APX2 is $800+)

    Hi Dave,

    All the benefits achieved by the features that you incorporated into the Mako skate had been available to hockey players decades ago in Lange's hinged plastic boot (similar to a speed skate's hinged blade) that had one benefit missing in all current hockey skate designs, including the Mako, that being proper Achilles tendon protection. The low tech Lange boot design made these high tech hockey benefits affordable to the masses.
