I was there watching and scoring this final from inside the scoreboard at the eastern end. We ball-boys did more than just chase tennis balls and ball-girls around you know. This was pure tennis. No tantrums, umpire & racquet abuse. These guys were about 5'8" tall. They finessed the ball and were great tacticians. Unfortunately the end of Australia's domination of world tennis was near. Enter Connors, Borg & McEnroe. Some great memories watching this. Still have my autograph collection from '70

@TheKPRZ well look up the Rod laver interview he did with the Aussie open last week or so, like Laver said, back then it was just amateur tennis... Looking back you can see just how much the game has developed
