That's a great idea - I bought a .22 and .410 adapter for my New England Arms 12 guage...

@Rivieratime Small correction. I obviously meant that a .32 adapter for the various .32 rounds, OR a .22 Hornet adapter could both be handy. These old tried and true rounds are very often found on farms and suburban homes and they should be do-able in a .410.
Just a thought.

Dave, it isn't just your opinion. The facts bear out the 12ga is more versatile than a flintlock. Take 1 12ga with 20ga adapter, 357 adapter, and 22 adapter there isn't much you can't hunt and the odds of finding ammo in a store/house is just about 100%. Try finding blackpowder once the stores are ravaged.

It just occured to me: if you want a cartridge adapter that uses common ammo a survivalist can buy or may "scrounge up" from an empty home or farm. then for an M-6 you might consider a 6" long 410 adapter to use the various .32 pistol cartridges and the.22 Hornet. BOTH calibers have been used for decades and have various positive attributes. Although not currently as popular, they are still ommonly found in stores or homes nationwide. Another is an insert for 410 to 22WMR (it also shoots 22WRF)

@nolideleon2010 I see your point, and a valid point indeed. But still, here in Europe, you are more likely to run across an o-ring-factory than to find some gunpowder or bullets ;)

@Dermanze -have you ever had a high powered airgun?(like big bore 9mm and up caliber) it will shoot close to 500 of rounds, then after that, it will have some issues like orings and worn out plastics, delrins or rubber sealants, sometimes after a shot just a mere 1 shot, then it will have some issues like loosing air, in a very controlled environment and situation it will work perfectly, but to rely on it as a gathering food tool, your better of with a powdered 22lr gun

Very cool Dave regarding 12 gauge adapters!

O/U 22? Way cool!
Great vid. Dave have u tried a "cut shell" in your 12GA? It is a simple process changing a target load into a slug. Common mans slug.

Maybe I've missed it, but have you ever considered air rifles? It might be that my opinion is affected by the European approach to firearms, but it would seem a great self reliance weapon, since there is no need for gunpowder, just some lead pellets. And nowadays there are air rifles large enough to take down even small animals. I'd love to hear your opinion on this.
