Apesar de ser uma época em que muitos pilotos morreram, era uma época que a união prevalecia.
A falta de segurança só não era maior que a coragem, a perseverança e o amor pelos colegas que existia dentro dos corações destes bravos pilotos.

My Grandad Tony Alderton was a big part of David's life and travelled to all of his F1 races with him. My grandad passed away a few days ago and I'm now researching parts of his life. I was only a few months old when I met David and he was a very big part of my family's life. Watching this makes me feel very proud :)

He had a very bad crash at silverstone 1977 wich he barely survived. Is there footage of it?

Silverstone'77 was a pre-qualifying session where Purleys throttle jammed open at Becketts. The session wasn't televised so no footage exists. A photographer was on hand to photograph the scene, I have copies of a few of these photos but they fail to capture the drama of the event. DP's heart stopped several times during the 45min effort to free him from the wreckage, but fortunately a medical team kept him alive until he reached hospital. The wreckage & DP's spare car are @ Donnington Museum.
