@Ez... There is sophistication and subtlety to Jane's performance also a charming and radiant presence...Connie could be strident and many would decribe her as overwrought at times. Mrs. Jerry Weintraub was one Class Act...one of the best dressed entertainers. I used to try to cheer on those Kapp releases of hers which struggled on the charts. I was but a War Baby in Australia...a rascal of a father from Chicago, Ill.

Bacharach and David's take on the then-recent calypso craze. Quite entertaining.
-
Pity that the quality is not as good as "day the rains came down" otherwise brilliant
-
A great recording. Thanks.

@Ezdduf4kuZ Yes Connie Francis has the best soothing voice out of them all! And all the other legends have great voices!
-
@MrGreglaw I believe Sue Thompson has that soothing voice but then you "Paper Tiger's are all alike!". I remember this song....she reminds me of Gale Storm & her "Dark Moon". Then their was Joan Weber and her "Let Me Go Young Lover"....none of them stacked up to what Connie Francis scored on the Top 40, did they? Connie Francis & her Italian background had by far the most soothing voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!Amen to that & CHOW @MrGreglaw. -
She has the most soothing voice!
-
Very nice. Credit also to songwriting duo Burt Bacharach & Hal David, who wrote lots of songs together. The former of which seems to take all the credit and the latter seems largely forgotten
-
Burt Bacharach must have been writing songs when in diapers!

A song before it's time. Too good for the 50's.

Yes, the singing is warm and lovely, and the song's harmonies are definitely way more sophisticated than the average pop song of that era, not to mention today's uneducated songs...

I like this. It has some unusual chord changes for 1959.
