Part 1 is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuZVzzOThx4

Justin Hall, a primitive mountain man stuck in a modern world, shows The Survival Training Center how to brain tan a deer skin. He goes over scraping, soaking, stretching and smoking the hide in good detail.

This is the first of about 4 videos we'll be producing with Justin, look for details on smoking and making moccasins in the near future! Check out other offerings at http://www.SurvivalTrainingCenter.com

  • dirk er durrr

  • skipped the entire "braining" and spent a lot of time on stretching, I'm having to look up how to do the actual braining.

  • learned me some thing thank you.

  • Really appreciate the info! These videos helped me tremendously with my tanning. Thanks

  • @PFCBeetleBailey not unless you stretch it with a winch. I'm quite strong and I can't tear squirrel hide unless its unusually weak or has a hole I can get a grip with. you can't tear deer hide on your own strength. don't worry about it.

  • As I am watching your videos, I see you are putting that through a LOT of stress, is there any risk of it ripping? Cool videos, very informative :-)

  • Nice video, very informative. Looks like alot of work though, no doubt.
