@StandardManCovers yeah i'm aware what a valve amp is. it's still not a tube. but i was just saying if you like the difference between pickups, go with a tube. personally, i would never suggest a tube amp for anyone who was looking for a good metal tone with active EMGs (not saying you are, just making an example) because a majority of tube amps are made for classic sound. Mesa/Boogie is a great metal tube amp brand, but they're 2500 dollars. Solid State is the way to go.

Hey im considering getting the Vox VT30 amp im just wondering it still sounds good with the EMG's? my guitar has an 81 in the bridge and a 60 in the neck

@leemster The vox sounds great with them man.

@leemster being that it's a solid state amp, you're not going to notice a large difference between pickups. If you want your EMGs to really shine, go with a tube amp.

@theunforgiven68 The Vox is a valve amp. Which is close to a tube. And I also think that you should go with a tube amp. But my amp was 600 just for the head so you have to drop a lot to get a big one.

@StandardManCovers and no, the vox isn't a valve amp, it's a modeling amp, meaning solid state. It's made to "model" the sound of a valve amp.

@theunforgiven68 Yes its a modeling amp, but it runs on valves.
