Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote the words to a beautiful lullaby in her novel 'Hawksong'. When I read the book and the lullaby, a melody immediately sprang to my head, so I had to record it before it escaped my mind forever. The words are hers, and the melody and voice are mine. This is in NO WAY the official lullaby, just how I heard it. ...I may have gone a bit overboard with the echo and layer effects...but I was having fun. I hope you like it.

  • Thank you! And I liked Hawksong the best as well. :)

  • OMG I love it!!!!!! it totally reminds me of the book even though i had it in my mind differently. but i loved it.☺

  • I'm sure we all heard it differently, but I'm happy you like my interpretation. Thank you!

  • Beautiful!

When I read the lyrics, I found it sad, however, I could not "hear" the song, if you get what I mean. You're really taleneted for comming up with it, by just reading it, you have my hat off for you!

  • Thank you!

  • cool! this is actually really similar to how i heard it in my head! :D

  • Wow. just WOW. i LOVEDD the book and no matter how many times i tried to sing the song in my head it nvr came out the way it was supposed to be. After hearing this wow. This suits the book perfectly. you're simply AMAZING.

  • Beautiful, so beautiful it can not simply be defined

  • I wonder why it sounds like this. Some of the lyrics are wrong (no offense, but seriously besides that, it's a great version) Here are the correct lyrics from the book:

I wish to you sunshine, my dear, my dear one.

And treetops for you to soar past.

I wish to you innocence, my child, my child.

I pray you don't grow up too fast.

Never know pain, my dear one, my dear one.

Nor hunger, nor fear, nor sorrow.

Never know war, my child, my child/

    Remember your hope for tomorrow.

  • This melody is all at once haunting and so beautiful. When I listen to it, I imagine a small, young golden haired, golden eyed girl (Danica) sitting in her mother's lap and looking up at her endearingly as her mother (Nacola) sings this.

Shoot... I might just have to write a little fic from this. *sigh* Beautifully done, and wonderful voices!

  • I had a different tune in my head maybe I'll do one with my tune.... anyway you have a pretty voice!

  • @marisalynn1496 I totally agree!
