Interesting. At the time and for a while after, I wasn't very convinced that Free Lab Rats worked. Certainly, Bruce Coates thought it was painful, but then he's not a dadaist. On reflection, hearing this a year on... fuck me! It's pretty terrifying! Not bad at all. This is no consciously arty bollocks but something more hands on... Adorno commented 'writing poetry after Auschwitz is barbaric' - maybe free improvisation got fucked when people began to claim they understood it....
