Hunsrückbahn Baureihe / class 218 TRIBUTE (Oktober 2009)

Ein kleines Tribute zur Hunsrückbahn als es von 218er mit Silberlinge-Wenderzüge gefahren wird, die jetzt mit 'Regioshuttle' triebwagen ersätzt sind.

Die Hunsrückbahn beginnt in Boppard (Rhein) und fährt achtzehn Kilometer durch die Hunsrück nach Emmelshausen und ist eine der schönste Eisenbahn strecken in Deutschland.


A short tribute to the "Hunsrückbahn" from when it was operated by Br218 diesels and 'Silberlinge' push-pull trains; now it is 'Regioshuttle' DMUs.

The journey begins in Boppard (on the river Rhein) and climbs out of the valley through the "Hunsrück" to Emmelshausen and is one of the nicest rail routes in Germany

This line was still 'Rabbit' powered on Nov 22nd (see my vid of the occasion), and the the 2 replacement carts where in the shed at Boppard. Did you know that the Driving Trailer is not a DB 'silverfish', it is an ex DR 'Halberstadt' built coach, you can tell by the roof line.

Yep, still 'Rabbit'power now, even a year after it was originally due to go over to RS1's. And yes, about half of the 'Silberlinge' DBSOs you seem to find aren't what they seem, and are actually Bybdzf 'Halberstadter' vehicles - because the DR built far too many originally, and then closed loads of branchlines, and so Byz middles were given cabs and sent west post-1990. I always tell by the windows - 'Halberstadters' only have five between the doors, not six.
