  • I have a Carver Loudspeaker Control System with the sonic hologram generator. this unit is hooked up with a Carver C16 Preamp which also has the sonic hologram. The system must be set up as mentioned or it will not work. I just LOVE listening it through my vintage Dynaco ST-120 tube amp. I recommend using Audioquest interconecting cables because most of the "blurr" is eliminated and it's just a treat for the ears.

  • Thanks toltec13

Even today, it sounds amazing. It is not the easiest system to set up properly, but it is will worth the trouble. Ones you truly hear the full effect of the Sonic Hologram Generator, with out it you hear the speakers, with it you hear the performance.

  • WOW - This is one of the most informative videos concerning high end audio I've seen on YouTube. I own an old Carver pre-amp which I use with my Sunfire amp (also by Bob Carver) and my Carver Amazing loudspeakers. Although the Amazings lack a little bass pump, unless you play hard rock it doesn't matter. This is one of the best set ups I've ever heard and nothing else satisfies me. This pre amp has a hologram feature that can be turned on or off. Anyone know if this is the same as the generator?

  • Caver did build the Sonic Hologram Generator into his equipment. So your pre amp has the hologram generator. As I said in the video that this demo does not come close to what you heard from the DQ-10s. I am work on another video on Carver equipment the Digital Time Lens. It allows a CD player to work with the Sonic Hologram Generator. Thanks.

  • That was really good. At my computer desk, I have 2 Pioneer 3 ways mounted on the wall, angled down and placed with the tweeters on the farthest ends from each speaker and a HTX subwoofer being powered with a nice 30 year old Realistic receiver. The speaker placement is roughly the same as in the radio station production studio I worked in when I was in the business .. works well for this demo. It was as if my speakers were moved! Very cool and clever. I'll take this over surround sound.

  • Thanks and nice setup. I have had a number of studio people listen to my DQ-10s with the Sonic Hologram Generator. And they ALL said how amazing it sounds and realistic sounding too. My favorite demo of the system is to turn off and on the Hologram as they a listen to their favorite music. I can clearly see in their faces when I turn off the Hologram, that the music has fallen back into the speakers. When it is setup correctly the sound quality is bone chilling.

  • I envy your knowledge on tube radios. I'm a rookie on working on tube radios and have the famous "toaster" radio by Zenith(circa 1941).The oscillating coil was opened and so I soldered the opened connection. I re checked the coil using the ohm meter and it read where it should be. I get only 1 faint station eventhough I change stations on the dial. What can you recomend for me? Are there any good books on tube radio repair? I have the videos on Bret Manessa Antique radios.

  • YES!! Stereo Images. Carver explained that sound, like light, will focus at difference points depending on their frequencies. And he had setup the Sonic Hologram Generator to focus sound to a classic orchestra's configuration. It is more complex than that of course but that is all I could get out of him. I did over do it on the demo but I wanted to make sure I heard the 3D sound. Thanks.

  • It sounds like a mastering technique I use on Mix CDs, but much more pronounced. I split the stereo signal into its Mid/Side components, then compress each individually. It has the effect of 'widening' or 'narrowing' the stereo field, while maintaining a lot of control over it. It's useful for keeping all the stereo images similar in a group of tracks that are mixed together. It can also give a more pleasurable listening experience in stereo, and assists with mono compatibility. Nice vid :)

  • Thanks! I wish you could sit in front of the DQ-10s!! The sound is phenomenal!! It is bone chilling!! This demo does not come close to what I would like you to be able to hear. But it does demonstrate the 3D sound that CARVER invented, reasonably well.
