Chickens are omnivores like us.
On their own, they will eat snakes, mice, rats, insects, and caterpillars.
It's not their main source of nutrition, but it's natural for them to eat meat every so often.

Never knew we could have chickens here! But serious, go to UH or something early in the morning. There are chickens that scare away the feral cats. (Usually by the dorms)

Chickens as well as other birds do eat meat not a large amount but they do eat it from time to time like when they eat insects and worms but its better for them to eat whatever 'chicken feed' you give them :3
Is it really legal to have pet chickens? I thought there was already a big enough problem with feral chickens running rampant.

Yes, in our state, we are allowed 2 per urban property. And they don't even specify gender. But I am careful enough to make sure I don't have roosters! :o
