  • I live about mmm 6 miles from it.. It actually blew things off the walls.. Everyone survived thank goodness!! What a miracle! It was super scary after the initial explosion because we thought more than 200 were dead. If a certain tank was to explode it would have obliterated about a 20 miile radius of Big Spring. The fire dept and police did a wonderful job! My father in law is a police officer! Shows you have brave they were to work so close!

  • Hi

We were in a RV park about 2 miles down the road and my wife though some one had ran into our trailer, We were on the way to CA from NC and it took us for ever that day to be able to leave the area with all of the detours that were set up. How no one was killed is a true wonder, we had arrived in the area the night before and had driven into town for dinner and I had remarked to the wife that is was nuts having a refinery right next to a main highway

  • Hi Guys

I understand what you feel because, I had witnesses one such explosion in Assam(India) some 10 years back. It is amazing, how the Fire Crew and the Law Enforcing Personnel the world over take over their tasks in the most demanding time and places.

  • @iluvincitingviolence I wasnt exactly sure what "equivalent" of anything was, but I do know for sure that the fire department and a number of other volenteers were keeping close eye on one of the large tanks. I was told that if the fire reached that specific tank it could cause devastation. Alon is next to a gas plant. Maybe that was what they were trying to keep away from. Either way it was so scary!

  • @ethanbaby30 I'm sorry, but unless that tank has an actual equivalent of a few million tons of TNT, which I'm 1,000% sure it doesn't, that would not have happened to Big Spring.

  • that was close

  • In the high school, we thought a car ran into the building! BSHS is nothing but a huge pile of bricks, and still was shaken up bad enough to knock the cieling tiles out of the vocational building.

  • @bamzle92 i felt it to ohh and goooo STANTON :P

  • @ir10031981 hahaha your funny (sarcasticly if you didn't get it

  • i was sick and fell off the my bed

  • man i still remember this day... i was workin at wal mart when it happened... all the shopping carts lined up literally lifted off the floor and slammed down... broke all the sliding doors... thank God nobody was killed

  • I live in El Paso and I felt it, LOL, and that's about 350 miles from the incident
