Mount Athos - Why the Monks are spiritually blind that no female including animals are not allowed?-2 A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this peninsula of 390 km² houses some 1,400 monks in 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries. An autonomous state under Greek sovereignty, entry into the area is strictly controlled and only male monks are allowed to live there. The Agion Oros (Holy Mountain) is a self-governed part of the Greek state, politically subject to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople as regards its religious aspect. The mountain is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, and by an imperial document (typicon) the avaton was established and no female may set foot on the peninsula. Most of its inhabitants are Orthodox monks living in monasteries, sketae (cloisters), cells and hermitages, and those who are not members of the clergy, such as employees, workers, but also the numerous visitors to the Agion Oros, who come for the purposes of meditation, prayer and study. Of the 20 monasteries, one is Russian, one is Bulgarian, one is Serbian and the rest are Greek. There is also a Romanian sketae. The foreign monasteries are supported by their respective countries. These monasteries posses holy relics, icons, frescoes and mosaics of great value. Liturgical vestments, historical texts, rare documents and manuscripts - all historical heirlooms - are kept in their libraries. Many, of course, have been lost and others were stolen during various raids. The first to settle here were iconodules, members of the clergy fleeing from the persecution of the iconoclasts. They came and lived as anchorites, unknown, and literally alone inside the caves. Later, monasteries were built and then they were organised in a monastic state. The Agion Oros became a refuge for those seeking to save their souls through fasting and praying. Even Byzantine emperors came and lived as monks here. The right of autonomy of the Agion Orhos was granted gradually, initially by the Byzantine emperors Nikiforos Fokas and Ioannis Tsimiskis. This persisted throughout the Turkish Occupation up to this day. During the years of enslavement it was a centre of the National Movement, and many who were wanted by the Turks took refuge there.
The common visitor can stay for free at each monastery for two days. Those who want to carry out studies can stay for as long as they want. An entire civilisation, different from modern civilisation, is preserved not only in the libraries, but throughout this special state and its people, in peace and quiet.

  • @gzyyy6 Hi Sister,

Well said. In spirit, there is neither male or female, Jew or Gentile, etc. But they are spiritually blind led by their blind guides who put up rules and regulations to bind them proper. Christ Jesus came to set us FREE. Twice-born are FREE.

  • @gzyyy6 Are you trying to make some t-shirts please? I have put up 5 designs. Check my latest video.

  • @halfrek But Jesus had no Disciples but Labourers. Blind are your Monks.

  • @adamantis4657 Hi,

Gospel is Preached to your mind and not to your physical body that has gender. A woman's mind is the same as that of a man. Stup are the Monks who bar women. They know flesh, prayers and sin but not soul, pondering over His Word and Righteousness. In Jesus, only the dead in spirit pray and talk about sins. They are antichrists in robes.

  • @halfrek Hi Brother,

This is an utter spiritual blindness. If a woman becomes a male and put on Christ, she can Preach Gospel with no hindrance. In Jesus, we are not of the same spirit as Elijah where only men become Priests. In Jesus, we are Royal Priests of hearts and not of the physical bodies. Look at some of my designs of t-shirts and tell me whether welcome or not? homepage.ntlworld.com/rajinder.nijjhar/designs.doc There are five designs.

  • @halfrek: There is NO SPACE for Egoism in Holy Orthodoxy. We all have to be obedient and to do the will of God - if we like it or not. This whole "women-right" is very foreign to Holy Orthodoxy. We are humbly and obedient.

Yes, and even Tradition is a REASON - because NO ONE CAN BREAKE TRADITION - NO ONE can set ASIDE TRADITION. Not even the smallest part.

The same reason is that women are not PRIESTS - TRADITION SAYS NO. And NO ONE CAN SET ASIDE TRADITION and still being ORTHODOX

  • @halfrek: WRONG

Because there are some female monasteries where men are not allowed. Only the priest - because there are no female priests.

Mount Athos is the Garden of the Panhagia - She is the only woman on Mount Athos. When once the serbian princess tried to enter Mount Athos - the Most Holy Theotokos appeared to her and said: "This is my GARDEN and NO OTHER WOMAN is allowed to enter. God has forbidden.

Since this time NO WOMAN ENTERED the GARDEN of the Most Holy Theotokos

  • @adamantis4657 Theotokos was the first disciple. When female monks are not allowed on Mount Athos when they have sworn off men and men have sworn of women-when their common goal is for sure the same. there is no reason that they should not be allowed to enter.

  • @adamantis4657 priests, bishops, and some male laypeople are allowed at all womens monastieries, but no women of any kind, including female monks are allowed to venerate the holy relics on mount athos, or study. this is deprivation of a complete spiritual life for many people.
