Back then they often built the jumps by hand, the parks where a joke compared to now. I remember looking at an old halfpipe competition and the walls looks hand made and ain't higher then about 1m. A Mac-Twist was awesome because you barely had the air time to make it.
Snowboarding had a soul back then and then the "spin to win" took over and kind of killed it.

I hope you are a girl then. Male worshiping is not cool.

This is one of the biggest facepalms of my life. I was there in Riksgränsen (working) but on that particular day I was just so tired I stayed home watching TV. And everyone came back from the competition talking about this amazing qp jump by Ingemar Backman...

One of my heroes in Snowboard. That day history was made and snowboarding has just kept on pushing. But Terje is the biggest of all times and will forever be. See how much higher he flew in the Halfpipe compared with others in the mid 90s and on.

I remember this. I think most "old school" snowboarders do. For me this is the biggest moment in snowboard history. Never mind doublecorks or 1440s, Backman made himself immortal with that BS air and it will still be remembered when todays acrobats are forgotten :)
Dude Im Old! Only 27 but damn this is like weird I remember being 13 and seeing that and being like holy s/h't that was huge! I hope all the young cats know that Terje ,Ingemar , Daniel Frank, Jamie Lynn Jim Rippey Kevin Jones and many more are the reason snowboarding got so big. Sure Travis Rice Shaun White Horgmo-whatever throw hugew tricks nowadays but the guys I mentioned laid the ground work
