  • First of all, happy new year! Great stuff! Where the hell and how have you found this record? I´ve just recently put out a couple of more pianosolos on utube, among them Maple Leaf Rag. Also a kind of fumbling version of Peacefull Henry. I suffered from som kind of brain disorder there and suddenly i didn´t know where to put my fingers. I´m also about to start a serie of videoclips with some highlits from my cylinder collection. 1:st out is Junk Man Rag with Fred van Epps. Schillingsanders.

  • @Schillingsanders happy new year !

I found that in a compilation (a BD about Scott Joplin)

  • columbia records!

  • Considering the fact that this music was actually produced from the musicians playing into recording equipment that produced the disk while they were sitting there is amazing! A sweet voice from another century. No wonder my grandmother could still dance a passible two step when she was over 90. She would have been 18 when this was made!

  • This recording really captures the spirit of the Maple Leaf Rag. Cool stuff.

  • Whooaaaaa!!! Fast and funny! I like this version...

  • TERRIFIC rendition! There is such joy and such a swing to this, it is fantastic! Thanks for posting this!

By the way, the band in the photo is a small dance band from the 'teens (I think with Ossman in the middle) and has nothing to do with the brass band heard accompanying Ossman on this earlier recording.

  • That's pretty awesome, actually. Amazing sound quality considering it's over 100 years old.
