Considering the fact that this music was actually produced from the musicians playing into recording equipment that produced the disk while they were sitting there is amazing! A sweet voice from another century. No wonder my grandmother could still dance a passible two step when she was over 90. She would have been 18 when this was made!

This recording really captures the spirit of the Maple Leaf Rag. Cool stuff.

Whooaaaaa!!! Fast and funny! I like this version...

TERRIFIC rendition! There is such joy and such a swing to this, it is fantastic! Thanks for posting this!
By the way, the band in the photo is a small dance band from the 'teens (I think with Ossman in the middle) and has nothing to do with the brass band heard accompanying Ossman on this earlier recording.

That's pretty awesome, actually. Amazing sound quality considering it's over 100 years old.
First of all, happy new year! Great stuff! Where the hell and how have you found this record? I´ve just recently put out a couple of more pianosolos on utube, among them Maple Leaf Rag. Also a kind of fumbling version of Peacefull Henry. I suffered from som kind of brain disorder there and suddenly i didn´t know where to put my fingers. I´m also about to start a serie of videoclips with some highlits from my cylinder collection. 1:st out is Junk Man Rag with Fred van Epps. Schillingsanders.
